thanks from OUR GRANTEES

"With the support of the SYC Foundation we were able to arrive at the racing venue in advance to practice before racing began. This was a very important step for our team as the winter darkness in Seattle combined with our work schedules makes it challenging to practice at the level we'd prefer. We have often found ourselves at the end of a regatta feeling like we're ready for it to begin. It felt great to make this change for better event preparation. Thank you!"

"Thank you very much for your generous support of us at the 2011 29erXX Superbowl. We had an amazing regatta and it would not have been possible without you. This regatta was really exciting for us because we demonstrated to ourselves that we have the talent and now we are extra motivated to train hard in preparation for another fantastic summer of racing."

"I had a fun time at both of the regattas and learned a lot.  I know that I want to compete in these two events again next year, and to get better finishes I need to improve my starts in those big competitive fleets.  Thanks again for the grant which really helped me get to the regattas.  I think the sailing and learning that I did at those regattas came with me back to Seattle and helped other kids here.  For example, I volunteered to help teach beginning Optimist sailors with one of Sail Sand Point’s learn to sail programs this summer in Kirkland after the two regattas  So your grant went to a lot of kids.”

"Your letter and generous grant arrived this week and were greeted with much gratitude and appreciation.  The sailors are taking very seriously the opportunity they have and the trust and confidence placed in them by their coaches, parents, and now their benefactors.  It is rewarding and inspiring to see all four of them reaching beyond what they have achieved before, preparing and working hard to do their best.”

"It is with great enthusiasm that the University of Washington Sailing Team thanks you for your donation.  Without the continued support of the Seattle Yacht Club Foundation our team wouldn’t be able to achieve the success we do.”
